FINE ART & ILLUSTRATIVE WORK

"Where photographic moments transform into illustration and artistic narrative."

My fine art composite and illustrative work brings photographs together to create images that tell a story rather than capture a single moment. By combining multiple photographic elements, I build imaginative scenes that feel expressive, atmospheric and intentional.

These pieces are created as visual stories — sometimes symbolic, sometimes narrative — and are designed to stand alone as artworks. They may be used as book covers, feature illustrations or wall art, inviting the viewer into a world that feels familiar yet slightly removed from reality, where photography becomes a starting point for creative exploration.

HEART OF THE LOTUS

This illustrative piece was created as both a personal piece and with a book cover in mind. The black swan is a graceful reminder to move from any position where you feel powerless and into a place to reclaim your personal power - from victim to victor.

It was created after I experienced a physical assault in 2019 and as part of my healing journey, I produced this piece as a reminder that I am stronger and braver than the "victim" my attacker temporarily turned me into. I love this piece for the power that it gave back.

Despite my situation, this image can be applied to many circumstances or interpreted in many ways. The hidden cross symbolizes the death of whatever is plaguing you, as your hope takes flight (the three birds) and new opportunities and life blooms (as symbolized by the lotus).

The entire image and its elements are 100% photographic - produced from several individual images shot independently and composited into a fine art illustration.

EMPTY VESSEL

This piece was created after both suffering loss myself and supporting other women through the loss of their babies - through either miscarriage or stillbirth. It depicts the sadness and loneliness of an empty womb.

Hidden features in the image include a butterfly (top left) which is the symbol of pregnancy loss, a cross formed by the tree branches (top right) symbolizing the passing of a life, a weeping flower (bottom left) which symbolizes the fact that others cry with you, and the darkness that comes with loss (the purpose of the silhouette).

The image also contains a sign of hope. In the bottom right corner is also a seed.....this was deliberately placed behind the heartbroken woman blowing in - to symbolize the presence
of unseen hope for the future.

A Christmas Wish

This beautiful image was created as part of a special Christmas photography project..... the Christmas Wish Project. For many years myself and a group of local Brisbane photographers visited Hummingbird House, Queenslands only children's hosptice, to give the gift of photographic memories to children with terminal and life-limiting conditions.

This beautiful young lady, named Dusty-Mae, visited us in 2020 with a wish for Santa. It depicts giving Santa a Christmas wish letter, while (unbeknownst to her) the reindeer is delivering  it.

The original image was photography on a green screen and all elements of the background were photo shopped in to create a beautiful fantasy winter moment.
